Beavers march to POD Tourney Championship

Your Battling Beavers bested two Cincinnati teams yesterday and head into today’s championship matchup against Alter at 5 pm.

Creek started the day with a 4-1 victory against the LaSalle Lancers. Owen Huff started the scoring with a power play goal in the first period. Thomas Bush got two goals (one in the second and one in the third). LaSalle got on the board with about nine minutes left in the game to tie up the period. That was short lived as Nate Schivelbein scored with about two minutes left in the game to secure all points for the Beavers. Ben Duford manned the net in this contest.

Beavercreek’s second game of the day was an 8-0 victory against the Sycamore Aviators. Team Captain Greg Gutterman got a hat trick and then some with four goals (two in the first and two in the second). The second period saw Creek pepper the net with five goals. In addition to the two from Cole, Thomas Bush, Riley Hanson, and Nate Schivelbein scored goals in the second period. Nate wrapped up the Creek scores in the third with the final goal of the contest. Joe Bordas secured the shutout between the pipes.

Come out and root on your Battling Beavers today at 5pm at South Metro as they take on the Alter Knights in a rematch of last year’s POD Tourney championship.

Beavers open POD Tourney with victory over IHWC

Your Battling Beavers started the POD Tournament off tonight with a 6-2 victory over the Indian Hills Winter Club Rangers out of Cincinnati. Thomas Bush got the game started with a goal in the first period and Captain Cole Gutterman scored a second goal with the period winding down to put the Beavers up 2-0 after one period. The second period saw one goal by either team and that was a 4 on 4 beauty by Braden Cox. The third period started rough with two quick goals by IHWC, but the Beavers rebounded with three goals in the final seven minutes of the game. The first from Thomas Bush, the second from Cole Gutterman, and the last from Riley Hanson. Joe Bordas defended the net in tonight’s opening round victory.

Your Beavers are back in action with two games tomorrow, 29 February. The first is a 1230 matchup against the LaSalle Lancers followed by a 7pm game against the Sycamore Aviators.
